[cool]My buddy came out here to try his hand at some striper fishing. We started tubing Hemenway on friday for a few hours while the trout were being planted. Though nothing bit our swimbaits, a couple of guys were catching 2lbers on anchovies. So we went to Horsepower to wade the shoreline. After two minutes I hooked up an 8lb 12oz striper. A nice fight. After an NDOW officer checked us out, we continued on both sides of the pier for nada. Back to Hemenway to wade that shoreline. An hour later I get another fish , this time a 3lb 14oz. By this time my friend is a little upset. " After a thousand casts you think I'd get a fish or at least a hit" he yells jokingly. All I can say is thats fishing. Back at on Saturday and starting at Horsepower. After 45 minutes I hookup again. This time its a 5lb 14oz striper. Another hour, and no more fish, we go to Hemenway. At the cleaning station, we see a guy that we saw friday, finish cleaning his fish for the day. A 19+lber!!! This thing was over three feet long! He got it on an 18" A/C plug at Hemenway. Off we go and fish for another couple hours for nada. My friend was bummed he didn't hookup, though free food and beer during his stay eased the pain, he vowed to be back and try again. Thru wind and rain, we kept at it. A great couple of days for fishing.

[size 2] [font "comic sans ms"] Thanks for the report. How's the open water tubing. So far I've only braved the coves. Haven't ventured out too far form shore in my tube (paranoid of being swept off to nowhereland).

But anyway, them are some good healthy looking fish.

Take care,
David

[cool]Thanks Powermaker. I never venture too far from shore, maybe 300 yards or so. It depends on the lake I'm on and the conditions. At Mead I fish just outside the coves trying to intercep the stripers as they go in and out of the coves. If that doesn't work I'll go parallel to the shore for no more than an eighth mile.
