~FISHING BEAR LAKE - WEATHER CONDITIONS & RAMP REPORT~
Fishing on Bear Lake WOULD be as good as it gets except for the fact that no one has been able to get out since last Thursday to fish it. The snow is starting to settle a little now but there is still a good 3' of snow to contend with. The State Marina has finally been plowed but guess what? It is too damn late! The Marina has now froze over and accessing it just won't happen. If it warms up (I hardly doubt it) and the Marina breaks up I will keep you all posted.
Cisco Beach will finally be plowed out tomorrow. It is unfortunate that our State Park guys don't care more about fishing. They have spent the last couple of days plowing out Rendevous Beach.....why you ask....good question! There is no launching and I know for a fact there isn't going to be a big run for camping there either. I am just as discouraged as all of you are. I do know that they finally got a hold of a gentlemen that told me that he was going to get Cisco plowed out tonight or in the morning. The only reason that they finally got a hold of him was because of all the pressure that they have been getting for not opening up our ramps.
Enough of my soapbox......the Cisco, as of today, didn't show up on the banks of Cisco Beach. My guess it is still a little early. Next week will be the time to be here.....soon as we see them show up I will make sure to post it.
If you do get lucky and are able to get out on the lake I would try jigging. Cisco, Whitefish, Cutts, Macks, you name it.......they are all on the bite. Kastmasters and Swedish Pimples in Gold and Copper are usually the best bet this time of year but I am sure everyone has there own little secret....my secret is...ssshhhh....don't tell......a Copper Kastmaster...haha......no kidding, it works for me.
The weather has started to get pretty cold but there is no sign of ice right now. Most of the ice that was on the edges has been blown onto shore. I would still be careful if you decide to cross from Cisco Beach to the Rock Pile. There is always a little ice still floating out there.
I will keep this posted as often as I see changes. We do have Cisco Nets but we are already down to like 50 of them. If you decide that you want one you might want to call and pay by phone to reserve one.
Thanks again for your patience in getting onto the lake. I have tried my hardest to get things opened up but sometimes that isn't enough. Good luck and please keep us posted!

Thanks for the update Jeff. I've got a question for you, have you heard of anyone jigging for cisco in the deeper water off Cisco beach? I read some reports over a week ago of macks being caught in deeper water that had cisco in them. I was thinking the cisco might be staging a little off shore.

I have. But I wouldn't go any deeper than 30 -40 feet. I have noticed over the years that most of the cisco will spawn out a little deeper if there isn't a layer of ice on the water.

That is great news, I was thinking that the cisco would be around the same depth as the Rock pile. I hope they get that ramp plowed by Monday, thanks again for the info.

Nice report Jeff. Where did you get so many cisco nets? Does Annette know about them and where do you put them. LOL

Just my secret stash.[Wink] Actually I copied the report from Pugstones tackle in garden city...
