THe ice isnt what it was one year ago today when we had the ice party, but it is fishable. Natalie and i had to go to Kamas this morning for some wedding planning and decided after to shoot over to Rockport to see ice conditions. I drove over to the boat launch to find 3 inches of clear with 1 inch of hard foggy ice on top of that all the way across. There must have been 3 dozen people fishing the lake in all different locations from the dam all the way to the inlet.

I hope to finish my homework today and tomorrow and go fishing on Monday. Anyone interested to a morning or afternoon fishing trip on Monday

I would go with you monday but my dad is having surgery. I think we will try and go tomorrow. Another report said it was 5 inches by the dam. Did it look like the edges were good by the boat ramp to get out onto the ice? If we have another cold night tonight hopefully it will add another inch. Also was there any snow on it. Thanks polo.

At noon i walked from the boat ramp a few hundred yards out on the ice, there was about 1 to 2 feet of open water on the shore, but nothing too drastic. I guess you could take a 5 foot plank just to be safe???

Hope to hit it on Sunday and Monday. Great to hear the ice is on!

[cool]Rob, I MIGHT be able to go out there with ya on Monday, but gotta get a kitchen pass soon. She's at work tonight, and has to work tomorrow night (her birthday, so that sucks). Anyway, I got her some pearl earrings for her birthday tomorrow, so that might get me out on Monday! I'll let ya know tomorrow (sunday).

I am probably going to fish on the west side of the lake, probably opposite lake from the boat ramp. I will have my radio on 12. I also drive a green chevy blazer with a faded BFT sticker on it.

I stopped at the boat ramp today and walked out to see how some of the folks were doing. There was still just 4" of ice with a little open water on the shore. You can't go out very far from shore not much more than 100 yards or the ice is too thin. There is still open water in the middle. The hiway side has even less ice than by the boat ramp. I saw several perch iced that looked to be 9"ers. Most folks were also picking up some small trout. They were fishing in 30' of water or less. The wind was blowing at 10:00 so it felt colder than it really was.
I will also be there tomorrow with my son and some friends by the ramp.
It will be good to get back on Rockport again! See you all there in the morning, DKS.

[size 3][black]Thanks for the update Dale. I was wondering how good the ice was. I'm taking my young kids out tomorrow and would like a littler safer ice. I think I'll head to Pelican.[/black][/size]

[cool]Hey Rob, sorry it took me so long to get back to you here. Today was a long Sunday for me. Anyway, got some bad news. Gotta take my daughter to the Dr. tomorrow, so I can't make it, but it sounds like fishingwaters, and dksrenegade/troutfitter are going so maybe you can hook up with them. Good luck out there, and be safe!

Hi Rob, I will give you a shout tomorrow. I will be by the ramp. It looked to have better ice farther out to the middle than over by the road. Good luck on the perchies! DKS.
