Wow! what a Sad day on the Berry. I arrived a little after 7am and I hiked out to a new area that I have never fished before. After drilling my first hole, I find out that the ice was in bad shape with about 8'' of frozen slush on top, then 3'' of mush, followed by about 2'' of hard ice. I drilled another hole in 17' of water and found the same thing. I got out of there, and hit out side the marina next, I fished there for about an hour, but it was like a zoo, with snowmobilers flying by, I got tired of the noise and so I packed up and hit Jakes Bay. By the time I hit Jakes, it was about 11am, I fished there until about 1:30, with no nibbles nothing! I marked a few fish on the fish finder but no takers. I saw three fish being caught all day. At least it was a nice sunny day with no wind and the slush was not bad, I only sunk a couple times. Did anyone else have a tuff day? It makes me wish I could fish on weekdays all the crouds and snowmobles can't be good for fishin.

At least you got out. It can get pretty hectic up there with all the sleds cruising around.

I decided to hunt some ducks today instead of fishing. It was a pretty slow day shooting, but it sounds like a slow day fishing, so I guess it was sixes.

I fished the berry today with my dad and brother and we caught 39 cutts from 7:00 to 3:00. we were on the other side of the lake from the marina in 25 feet of water it was sweet.

UTMTNMAN- Welcome to BFT and thanks for your strawberry report. I love to hear good reports from that lake. Sound like you had an excellent day! Were you fishing across the main lake from the marina (like toward the narrows) or across strawberry bay toward Haws point, or across the big part of the lake by ladders? Did you use snowmobiles to get there? Did you find one jig or bait that seemed to work the best? Thanks for the info! I'm heading up on Tuesday and can't wait!

I dont know the names of all the points and bays up there but we were straight across from the marina. we used a 4 wheeler to go out and used green, white and pink jigs with mill and wax worms.

I'm thinking of putting my wheeler on the ice up there tomorrow, but am debating about it due to slush conditions. Did you guys have any trouble fighting the snow/slush?

There was about 4 inches of snow on top of about a 3 inch layer of frozen slush with a about 4 inches of slush between it and the hard ice. we hit a couple of spots were we got stuck for a minute but no big deal for a couple of guys to push out.

Wow I was at Berry today and it was tough. We got there about 6:30 with nothing until around 10am. At 10am we had some good fishing for about 15 mintues (7 fish) then it dried right back up. We stayed until 2pm but finally called it a day. We caught 10 total. A Beautiful day but other than the 15 mintues strech where we couldn't get out poles back in the water fast enough it was a rough day.

Welcome to the board svpdgcar! That reports sounds really strange for Strawberry. Do you mind sharing what general area you were fishing, what bait or jigs you tried, and how the ice/slush/snow conditions are in general. Thanks

The inlaws and I hit the Ladders Saturday morning. The weather could not have been better. All the slush was frozen, no wind and a bright, warm day.

I iced 2 cutts about 18in, and lost 2 more at the hole. The rest of the group had similar results. Most if not all fish were caught with green jigs and wax worms.

I guess two fish is poor by most standards, but is actually quite good for me!
