Anyone else going up this weekend for ciscos?

I plan to be over there somewhere on the beach Saturday morning. Hope to shore fish for a while with fresh (dead) cisco after netting a few.

Wiperslayer and I will be there, we haven't decided if we will bring a boat or not.I hope someone makes a report about netting before Friday. WH2

I'll probably go up early Saturday or Sunday morning, net my limit, cast a few lures or long-line a cisco for a while, and then head home before noon.

I am at the Big Blue Pond almost every weekend! But....... this weekend I can only fish/net on Saturday. I plan to go up Friday afternoon and fish/net from cisco beach Saturday till about noon then back home to get ready for OT on Sunday!

I bought my kid a new net and waders and plan to have him get cisco while I long line for passerbye cutts or macks.

Saturday the 29th is the Rockport take a kid fishing party!!! Be sure to pm Polokid with a head count and me as well for a kid count for prizes. Hookedchica, MGB, Kentofnsl,DanielJRioux and myself have put up a bunch of cash and donations for the kids prizes.

I'll be sat. morning about 8. I am bringing my boat up to do some jigging after we get our limits of cisco. I wont have my radio as it is at the bottom of causey from last weekend but thats another story.

WH2- I was at Cisco Beach on Thursday with two friends. When we go there at ten there were lots of schools going back and forth but were spooked easily. Derrick got his waders on and tried crouching down while I tried to herd them his way. They wouldn't get close enough to him until he got over by the deeper rocks and put his net over them into deeper water and used the rocks to prevent the cisco from seeing him. Then he did real good and we got the three limits of 90. When we were pulling out at noon the cisco started coming into the shallow rocks in schools of hundreds and thousands. It is too bad we already had our limits. That would have been fun to have caught them that thick. We jigged from the boat for cuts and macks, but it was slow. We only got four cutthroats between the three of us. Still a lot of fun fishing. Beats work all to heck! Acey

Thanks for the report Acey, I guess we will try netting them. I wonder if the catching would have been better earlier in the morning. I guess we will find out Saturday morning, were you netting the cisco close to the boat ramp or closer to entrance to Cisco beach? WH2

Last year when I went up they were better in the early mornings and then went back out deeper in the afternoons. I was surprised when I saw that many coming in all at once when it was noon. I wondered if it was because the run is still just getting started. The cisco were side by side and tail to tail so thick that it looked like the water had turned black color. I couldn't hardly believe there were so many of the little buggers there all at once. The place we saw the most was straight west of the entrance to Cisco Beach. There were some good rocks to stand on in shallow water that dropped off several feet into deeper water. That seemed to work better for not having the fish see you and get spooked away. I didn't see any cisco along the shore further to the south where the boat launch ramp is. Good luck to you all this weekend. Too bad I will be working. Acey
