Fished willow today for the first trip of the year!
Got there around 5. A little too late, but I fished anyway. Walked part way around the lake and found a few rainbows that were rising in the southern most inlet. So I put on a single salmon egg under a bubble. Waited a couple minutes, and I got a slight bite. Nothing hard. Few minutes later, little bite again. But this time he made the mistake of moving with the bubble. So I set the hook, and pop. He got off. I went through that for atleast half an hour and a dozen eggs, having them bite and them getting off. I finally got one to stick, and that was a tiny 4" bluegill. Sheesh!
Didn't wind up getting any troutskies. Did see one big old dead mac, and a few crusing when I was leaving. Oh yeah! The bass and blues were all over. When the chop finally died down a little bit I bet I saw 20 bass and over a hundred blues. They'll be biting good in a couple months. On a down note, there were a dozen big fat goldies swimming with them. Hope they don't overpopulate again! Might get back there tomorrow or friday. Seemed like there were a few fish in there again.
