Here is my new fishfinder rig up. First off, thanks for all the BTF member input, especially BLM and kentofnsl!!

I used a 5 gal cooler from WalMart ($7) exactly like kentofnsl's! I then added the awesome cigarette male/female combo as suggested. It is very cool and I have a male adapter coming from my fishfinder and my charger!!

Inside the female adapter runs to an inline fuse and to the battery.

The beauty of the cooler is I have all the room needed for the fishfinder, transducer and all needed PVC pipe.

Finally, I mounted some screws to adapt to my humminbird fishfinder. I used neoprene washers and silicon around them and the cigarette adapter for complete water resistance!

Final product:

I also added an extra T in the middle with a small piece that will len on the ice hole to balance out the weight of the transducer. I also have different lengths of pipe to adjust to ice depth.

Anyway, just wanted to share even though all credit goes to BLM and kentofnsl for showing me the way.

Thanks again,
F4F

Lookin' really nice. Good work. One suggestion I might have would be to get a Johnny Ray mount and stick in on the top of the cooler. It allows you really quick pop on/off plus swiveling capabilities! No messing with wingnuts. Those can be cumbersome when your fingers get cold. Sportsmans has them that will fit almost any finder. All-in-all, it looks really good.

What are those exactly? and about how much? I'm all for improvements and that is the one piece of it I would like to change. I only went with the screws/wing nuts because I couldn't find/think of anything else quick and easy, etc.

Thanks,

[black]Johnnt Ray mounts are quick detachable mounts for your sonar unit. They release with the push of a button. I prefer the RAM mounting system for the adjustability, especially in a boat. They both work great at quickly mounting and detaching your sonar unit. Here's some pics.[/black]

This is what they look like. You can pick them up for about $15. They also come with a plate that fits on the base of your finder. I used some short stainless steel bolts, with stainless nylock nuts to fix it to the base of the finder. Then you just push the finder in, wait for the snap, and you are golden! It will then swivel with positive stop increments! When you are done, just push the button on the base, and viola, your finder is off and ready to pack up. Hope this helps.

Dang Rich, we must be on the same frequency! I too like the RAM mounts. In fact that is how I mount my finder to my pontoon. They work very well, are rock solid, but they are a little pricey. But to each his own, and if it works, use it.
