Captain dave hanson of Fishbuster Charters fished 12 miles offshore from Bonita Beach on Gulf trips this week, using light tackle and live shrimp. Clients caught keeper-sized mangrove snapper, lane snapper, triggerfish, Spanish mackerel, and porkfish, along with catch-and-release gag & red grouper, assorted bottom-fish, and barracuda. Backwater clients caught flounder to 19 inches, sheepshead, keeper mangrove snapper, and jack cravalle to 4 lbs., while fishing the southern part of Hickory Bay around oyster beds and the potholes in Wiggins Channel, with the lightest weight possible and live shrimp.
