My son and I fished the ladders today and it was fair fishing. We iced 11 and lost around 6 at the hole. 3 were broken lines on the edges of the hole. All were slots, one was close to a keeper but not quite. A white booger with a green head tipped with a mealie was a consistant bite getter most of the day. Minnows didn't work and using a kastmaster didn't work either. We were in about 25 feet of water and most fish were between the bottom and 18 feet. Being the first one to drag a sled on 10 " of fresh snow is not a fun way to start the day either! We were about ready to die by the time we got 300 yards from shore. I think fishing was decent because there weren't many people there and not to many sleds or wheelers.

Thanks for the report, sounds like a nice day at the Berry. With the amount of snow up there, do you think an ATV could get around without getting stuck. WH2

[black]Depends on the atv. We were up there yesterday and the high clearance atvs could get around. Not great but they were getting around. Theekillerbee's atv got left 300 yards from the marina. We ended up snowmobiling where we needed to get to.[/black]

The wheelers were doing O.K., they started out driving in our tracks! One group with three machines went clear across the bay to the other side so it didn't keep them from getting where they wanted to go but it was a little slow for them. By the way, I'm going to get a wheeler next year, what kinds are best for the ice?

I would not be the best person to ask about what ATV to buy because I'm just getting into using them myself. The one I bought recently is an older Honda 400 4x4 with chains, I hope it will work on the ice but I know when the snow gets too deep they are not the best way to go. Like BLM said, when the snow gets too deep a snowmobile is much better. I think an ATV can be used more during the year but nothing beats an snowmobile when the snow gets deep. WH2
