What is the snow depth on the ice now? I may be there later this week and will be walking to where ever I fish. I am looking at trying Chicken Creek East. Thanks for your help, DKS.

On Saturday it was 12-14 inches. Probably more now. There was no slush at that time. Good luck.

A couple of days ago BLM said your ATV got stuck up there and you had to use his snowmobile to get to the area you guys fished. My questions are, what size is your ATV, is it a 4x4, were you using chains? The guy that was fishing by the Ladders said he saw several people on ATV's in that area that were not having any problems. I would hate to get up there this weekend and get stuck if the snow is too deep for my ATV, thanks. WH2

I have a Suzuki King Quad (4X4). It has a little less ground clearance than some of the newer bikes. I only can clear about 8", so when the snow gets that much deeper than that, I am bum jugged! Chains may have helped a little. Another guy that was up there with us had a Kawasaki Prarie, and he made it most of the way before getting stuck. I saw a couple of Sportsmans get stuck, but when one guy jumped off and gave a little push they got going again. If they got much snow last night, it might be very tricky. Supposedly there will be another storm mid week, and that might really put the smack down. Hope this helps.

I was up there on Saturday with a Yamaha Kodiak and a Polaris Sportsman, both 4 wheel drive. The Sportsman had no problem at all. The Kodiak struggled here and there due to less ground clearance, but we made it to the meadows and back without much problem. The wind really picked up at about 2:00 and actually cleared a couple inches of snow from the lake. The trip back was a lot quicker and easier than the trip out.

The other guy had a Yamaha Grizzly not a Prarie...my bad.
