[cool]CBR and I got on the hard water at 7:30 or so, and gave a few shouts out on the radio, to which we heard ironworker, dksrenegade and fishingwaters respond back. Craig and I started nailing Perch and small bows right away. Soon after fishingwaters, son, and dog joined us after we had already iced about 50 Perch between the two of us at 9 or so. Then CBR'rs boss and family joined us, so we all headed more towards the inlet to chase some Troutski's. It was an excellent day with great weather and great company. CBR and I iced probably 40 Perch each and about 60 Trout with no Browns in the bunch as of 11:15 when I left. Bassrods later joined us over there too and we all had a great time. CBR, bassrods, and fishingwaters are still probably out there as I write this.
Had a great time today, and we were fishing in 17 feet of water initially over on the Southwest side, so we were able to be picky with which Perch we kept. Over by the inlet we were fishing in 8 feet of water, and believe it or not, we still caught Perch right there too, but mostly 'Bows. Ice was in great shape, although it's starting to get slick out there again, and there was probably at least 300 people there today, but plenty of room for everybody!

Hey O4T you didn't waste any time making a post. I left right behind you. It was great to be able to catch mainly trout. My boy and I caught over 60 Trout and 6 Perch between us.

I stayed til 1 PM and caught well over 100 fish today. Most of them being trout, biggest being about 15 inches or so. Great way to wind down the ice season as I am soft water bound for the rest of the year.
Was great fishing with everyone and speaking with who I did, ironworker, fishingwaters, DKSrenegade, bassrods, folks from work.
Geoff, pleasure as always.
PS On the way out i had the opportunity to see a 20 inch be caught, wasn't that fat but was real long. Nice stuff.

I love seeing your son rub it in that he outfishes you.
Great seeing you on the ice as always. I could use some of your spicy veggies.
Great day on the ice.

[cool]That might have been my last ice fishing jaunt of the year too. If I had a snowmo and a power auger, I might try the berry one more time, but since I don't, I won't. The ice was starting to get a little squirly in some spots right at the edge today when I was getting off of it. I think the lake might be starting to rise. I may go one more time to the rock, and maybe not. Not sure yet. One thing I DO know is it's about time to start chasing big ole Mrs. Wally at Utah Lake!

Well not much more to say that hasn't already been covered.
We like you were looking for trout today. We found just what we were looking for. No Browns this time, but several nice Bows in the 15" to 17" range. My son has fish finder that puts my poor fishin buddy to shame. He would watch the screen and give us a play by play as he kept reeling in the fish. I was very impressed with how well he could use the finder to lock in on a fish and entice it with some finesse jigging action, until it would take his jig.
My wife had a blast today and pulled out a lot of perch that were 10" and 11" slabs. Now my work begins, as it is my turn to fillet our supper. I have to agree that we are on the down side turn as far as ice fishing goes. But the good news is that I am now ready to hit the streams. I have a lot of new flies that I have tied, and they need to be baptized real soon.
It was good talking to all the BFT members today. It's a great help to hear how every one is doing while I am up there, and it makes for a fun trip. Later, DKS.

I hit the rock today with a friend and my son. We parked at the second outhouse on the west side. We fished in about 43' of water for the first while. The perch fishing was slow at first but picked up about 10:30 or so. My son landed 3 fat bows that were 16" and I got one the same size. We ended the day with 7 bows and about 30 perch. Not quite as fast as you guys on the south end. I hollered at you guys on the radio but I was getting all kinds of static so I could'nt understand most of what was said.
Did you guys get any large bows over there, or were they all small? I may make one more trip up there on Saturday before the boat gets summerized. There was alot of water on the edge of the ice when we left. Sure felt soft but we crossed with no problems.

[cool]Hey Elkoholic-I got one Bow that was 17 inches. Good fillets off of him, I tell ya. The rest of the guys got into a few that were around that size too, but most of those 50-60 bows I caught were between 8-12 inches. Hope they all grow well this summer so that there'll be some really nice size to more of them next ice season!

We did better on the 'bows than the perch. But as long as we were seeing suspended fish on the finder, we had more fun chasing them!
A friend had an Aqua-Vu, and we were on the 1/2 of the lake closest to the inlet. The bottom was sure "cloudy" yesterday. The perch bit for us best when we could tease them up a couple of feet. Perhaps it was the poor vision thing we were experiencing.
But the rainbows were a lot of fun! Biggest we had was 17", and a lot at 14".

That was only the 3rd time I have ever fished up there and I had no idea they had trout that big. last summer we caught some 14-15" bows but they were all skinny. I was pretty surprised when my son pulled up 3 fatties. I would like to find some of those big browns as well. Where do you park to fish the south end?

[cool]Where we parked was the VERY LAST turnout that there is on the west side. It's past both of the outhouse parking areas, etc. Normally, I would have sent this as a pm, because I don't want to see 100 people in this area the next time I fish there, but since it's at the tail end of the ice season, I guess what the heck, Eh?
