Had Monday off. So I took the boys fishing. We went to our favorite ice fishing place (strawberry). We got there around 0700 and fished until aroun 4:00. It was a beautiful day to be on the ice. We fished south of the marina around the Haws point area. We iced around 20 fish. Which is really quite disappointing considering last week-end we iced over 70 in the excact same spot.go figure. We caught several on foxy jigs and tuber jigs tipped with meal worms. Then the bite turned off. I had read in a post last week that this had happened to some-one else and so they tipped their jiggs with a piece of minnow/sucker meat. Well I just happened to have stoppe by at sportsmans before the trip and remembered the tip. So we started to tip our jigs with minnows and the bite started again. I couldnt believe it. So I switched back to meal worm just to see if it would work. Nothing not even a nibble. Switched back to minnows and started cathing fish...(thanks for the tip)
Just a side note, when we went to come home we got the snowmobile stuck several times. There was over a foot or more of snow on the ice with about 6inches of water/slush on top of the ice. several 4wheelers I saw were stuck as well. Just a warning to beware.Be careful.
