It isn't often I would tell anyone to go to Deer Creek but I will pass along this chance for all you fisherman that need to get the Dust off the boat cover.
Drove by Deer Creek on Sunday and the reservior is wide open - the water has risen enough to make the island an island and almost cover the far end of the lake.
The temps have been in the mid 40's and the active fish should be up in the shallows. According to Angler's Edge - early spring is time for the three S's - SLOW, SHALLOW, & SMALL.
One thing be be aware of is the road construction has started. Both ends of Deer Creek have major earth moving equipment and they have broken ground. New retaining fences have been put up and road conditon in both Provo Canyon and around the lake will only get worse.
Trout fishing should be good and water levels should continue to rise. See you on the water.
