The waters of south east Queensland have an abundance of fresh and saltwater fishing spots. Around Queensland's capital city Brisbane flows the Brisbane river. From Lake Wivenhoe west of Brisbane where native species like Australian bass, silver perch, golden perch and eastern cod can be caught the river opens out into a salt water estuarine system were species such as bream, whiting, flathead and tailor can be caught. The Brisbane river the flows out into Moreton Bay where a large variety of reef/bottom dwelling and pelagic fish can be caught, such as snapper, mackerel, tuna and bill fish.
