Me and my daughters hit Causey to day and as always we were into fish. Our goal was to catch a limit of Kokes. We fell a little short we iced 9. my girls had to leave early today or i think we could have done it. We arrived at 7 and left by 2:30 we caught 20+ splake we keep 3 that were 13 long. the schools of Kokes came through about every hour to hour and a half. they are running just below the ice, between 5 and 25 feet. We have hit causey atleast a dozen times this ice season with about the same results. only twice we only iced a few fish, the rest of the time we are icing a bunch of fish. alot of them are Kokes, my daughters say so far they like the fight they put up the best. Ice is holding up really well so i hope i still have more time to reach our goal of a limit of Kokes. if anyone is up there and sees a guy and 2 girl come and say HI. We are the only ones I have seen that have a blue sled(used to be my girls little play boat).

Great report and welcome to BFT. Always enjoy reading about parents fishing with their children. How old are your daughters?

What a great day, especially when you can share it with your girls.
How's the ice along the edges? Not getting soft yet, is it?

Uintalce, the edges were frozen soild when we got there and they were frozen when we left. they look like they have been soft before today. the first couple feet is really slick. I think it will hold for atleast a couple more weeks. THX

Wiperhunter2, I use only curly tail grubs 1/8 oz. tipped with anything(meal, wax or worms) My one daughter caught all three of hers today just on the jig. A fishfinder is a must so you can tell when the school runs through and what depth they are at. They have been running real shallow. I have had one on the line and watched a couple swim under my hole. Then we just fish the drop offs. usally in 40 to 60 feet of water. I have a few favorite holes hard to explaine were they are at. I am usally up there every weekend if i can help it. me and my daughters don't mind company. I will post the next time I go up there. I hope it will be this coming up weekend. If i can get my father furnace installed. Also, you have to have a really sensitive rod they are hitting very light. I had to but bite indicators on my daughters poles before they started catching them. hope that helps.

I haven't made any plans for the weekend yet, maybe I'll see you at Causey. A lot of us use two way radios and tune them to channel 12, do you have a two way radio? WH2
