James the whole key to the river now is getting enough weight on ahead of the flys and having a long enough leader. Sorry to hear you did not do well.
We went to the same place sunday Morning, it started out slow but as the sun started warming things up the fishing really picked up also. Did a screening of the river and found Golden stones were about size 16,sow bugs were 14,amber roe ,green midge larva, these were the most prevelant.

I hit the weber on monday and pull 24 out (one brown going 19 inches). Saturday I hit the weber and it coughed up a 21 inch brown for me. I caught 4 browns in all from 12 to 21 inches and a 10 whitefish. While I was walking the bank, daydreaming, I stumbled into a pool that had 4 browns in the 19-22 inch range. I marked the spot and will be back soon to hit them. Nymphs are working well, but there was some top action as well. I was fishing in the croydon, taggart, devil's slide area.
