well the weather was great the company even better. the fish was slow. with only one fish hooked all day by fish4fish so he ended up with the prize for the first fish and the prize for the biggest. he ended up with the pole and reel, and a bass proshops tube bait pack. he won it on a 17" little pike hooked on a ancov being reeled in. there were a few other bites but no hook ups that day. all those that showed up did get a few lures and some even walked out with a booger hat from hooked fishing. "thanks james" . I think you all missed out on fishing with us even if the fishing was slow. here is the winning fish.[Image: gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=8545;]

so you know the next day we fished it for a 2 hours and hooked 2 small pike 12" "don't know how they got the bait in the mouths" then we headed for utah lake for the eyes and did better there.

FOR FUTURE REFERENCE FOR ANYONE INTERESTED. I LIVED IN RICHFIELD 11 YEARS & FISHED REDMOND QUITE A BIT. HAD A GUY WORKING FOR ME THAT USED TO FISH IT WITH LIVE FROGS AT NIGHT. YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN SOME OF THE CHANNELS HE CAUGHT. HE ALSO DRUG IN A COUPLE BIG PIKE THAT SOMEHOW DIDN'T BITE HIS LEADER OFF. OH! HE DID THIS IN THE SUMMER, NOT EARLY SPRING THO.

Here is something of added interest in Redmond. There are plenty of pikes in there. Here's a secret, when there are no ice and the weather is very warm or balmy for a winter day, they tend to be scattered all over the lake.

Ok here's the understanding, pikes tend to be stacked up when there is ice, and the warm water springs pours into the Redmond where you guys are fishing as I m sure you've seen the warm stream of water going in. Pikes are a "warm water fish" and they like the warmth and the anchovies are a plus for them.

Now go figure...[cool]

[size 2] [font "comic sans ms"] Hey there, nomoose. Thanks for the invite, lures and the hat. Even for such a short trip, I still had fun. But next time, please make sure the pike understand why we are there. lol The real fun came on the way home though. I realized my wide tires and snow/rain/slush do not mix well. It made for a very interesting trip home.

Take care,
David
