FISHED ROCKPORT YESTERDAY MORNING NOT FAR FROM THE INLET. FIRST FISH I CAUGHT WAS A 21" GRAVID FEMALE. GILL HOOKED & BLEEDING BAD, I FIGURED SHE'D DIE IF I RELEASED HER SO I DIDN'T. CAUGHT A COUPLE MORE NICE BOWS & WHEN I CLEANED THEM, THE BIG ONE AND ANOTHER OF THE LARGER ONES HAD SMALL PERCH IN THEIR STOMACHS. THEY WERE PERCH FOR SURE. WEREN'T DIGESTED TO THE POINT THEY COULDN'T BE IDENTIFIED.

I FOUND THAT INTERESTING AND THEN BEGAN TO WONDER IF THE PERCH INTRODUCTION INTO MANTUA WAS SUCH A HORRIBLE THING. IF RAINBOW ARE USING THEM AS FORAGE IN ROCKPORT THEY OUGHTA BE USING THEM EVERYWHERE ELSE. HAS ANYBODY FOUND PERCH IN TROUT STOMACHS ANYWHERE ELSE?

Congrats on the nice trout . Bigger fish will consume perch . I don't keep many trout but did keep a brown from Rockport last year and found a 7" perch in her . Browns will eat just about anything that moves . Years back , I nailed 26" brown in the Weber River that was bleeding to bad so I keep it . It had 2 6" rats in its gut . Yum , Yum . They could of been muskrat I guess but my kid wouldn't eat trout for a while after seeing that . LOL
