Fished a couple local waters over the weekend. Fished the Jordan out by Redwood road just to see what might have been stirring. I had a mess of cutbait to use up so I spent about four hours flinging bait into what I figured would be catfish hidey holes. I got a couple bites, nothing too hard and set the hook on air a few times. Saw a few muskrats, tons of ducks, pheasants, quail, and geese but no fish. Oh well, at least I eliminated some areas. Oh, and I had the misfortune to find where the SL sewer canal runs into the river out there.... whew!! what an awful smell!! [pirate] Then Sunday, I fished Big Cottonwood Creek that was anything but big. i did fish some likely spots and some holes that were discreetly mentioned to me by a fellow fisherman. Count on Sunday, four almosts, and no cigars. I did see some girl in some apartments run out on her patio, drink about half a sams club soda and then chuck the can out into the creek. I felt like picking it back up and throwing it back on her porch..... Seriously, parents. Do your damn job!!! Irks the living hell out of me when I see stuff like that. Just tossed that can out like it was no big deal. Makes you want to go empty a dumpster on their porch on behalf of the trout that got pushed out of the hole by the flow of garbage. [mad][mad]. Anyway, I hiked down to where tons of people were playing some funky frisby game or something, got chased by a little rat dog, and hooked a few more fish. I got lots of splashy blowups on my spinner but none that really took nice and hard so I could get a decent hookset on them. Oh well, it was fun to almost catch fish downtown. Thanks for the advice on the fishing, and you know who you are. I got growled and barked at and bluff charged by so many little dogs that I was about to flip out the knife and go to work on some pets but other than that, it was a good trip. Still fuming over that kid. I just don't get it I guess but from the amount of garbage in that creek at the section I chose to prowl for a few hours, I'm in the minority as far as SL goes with regard to public area cleanliness. I don't know that I'll be back to that spot.... I much prefer the mountains and cleaner landscapes. But I've got some other spots in town to try so I won't completely abandon the ideas, just not going back to mutt central..... Its all yours Jerry!!! [Wink]

I'm glad to hear that you had a few bites on the Jordan. With these temps it shouldn't be more than about 2-3 weeks before the cats and suckers are biting good.
Sorry to hear about the cottonwood. Its like that a lot of the way down, though. In the lower section I snag plastic bags and crud like that off the bottom. I'm glad to hear you got a few bites, too. Did you notice if any of them were decent sized?
I wanted to get out but I saw the wrong side of 12 both Friday and Saturday. I hate them dogs in that park. A few of them that are there are nice. But the majority should be kept on leesh. Good luck next time you get out!

Hey Jerry, we will have to hook up and go check out some of these waters downtown sometime. I've got plenty of cutbait for hitting the jordan (two sandwich bags full), probably about 50 pieces or so so if you want, just PM me sometime and I'll meet you down on the river. I'll have to run with you down to Utah countys big pond too and show you a cat spot I stumbled, literally, on to last summer. Its a good un. The little trout that blew up on my lure looked to be from about eight inches to maybe twelve at the longest. They looked really skinny which fits considering the stream sections they had to fit in. I wish the thaw would hit so I could make it up the canyon to fish the river up there. Anyway, you have my email I'm guessin so let me know what you think about hooking up somewhere. I'll yak at you later.
