I have to take about 8 scouts on a camp this summer and I am trying to think of a good place. Although I am using this as an excuse to go camping and fishing. Plus it will be a good chance to get some of these younger kids fishing. It will probably be a 2-3 nighter. I was thinking the Uintahs but not sure yet. Any good ideas out there for a good camping spot thats not too crowded with good fishing? Thanks

I would say Murdock Basin up Mirror Lake Hwy would be a great choice, a vehicle with good clearance is a must though. Up there you have echo and pyramid lake and a few others. the brookie fishing is excellent with the chance of pulling in a golden.
Mill Hollow reservoir is a good place too, with a very nice camp ground there. Fishing for planter bows, and albinos is very good.

Hey Tuber,
Having been in your shoes before I will tell you were we went a couple of different summers and had enjoyable times and got to fish too!! My favorite place to take the scouts was down on the Boulders. A place called Coleman Lake is a good place to camp and then you can get some exercise hiking into several other lakes. Also on the Boulders I have taken the scouts up to Blind Lake and camped there. The Boulders are full of places to camp. It is lower in elavation than most places in the Uinta's so it is warmer and dryer most of the time. Fishlake is another favorite place. We would camp along 7 mile and then fish the stream and some beaver ponds. The Fremont River is just a few miles away as well as several Resevoirs.
Well let me know if you need more details. I have to say I have alot of fond memories spend in the hills with my son and the other scouts in our troop. God bless you!!!

washington lake in uintas is very scout freindly. also up below dead horse pass ther is a great brookie steam. my 8 yr old son caught 114 brooks in 4 hrs. and if they are older scouts go up past mirror lake on the highway the river will drop away from the road continue up the mountain until you get to the top. the river will apear on the right again. park there!! then waid down the river. this place is a true adventure!!! with tons of fish, rainbows cuts and brooks. this stretch rarley gets fished. for there are some waterfalls obstickles to go around. as you drop in the walls on both sides start to rise and before you know it you cant exit river cliffs rise strait up. so continue down about 2 miles through the cliffs as you fish untuched holes the whole way. there is a campground where you will come out of cliffs. we always would get dropped off at top and dad would be at bottom when we came out. very good confidence and self asteam builder.. oya use balls of fire!!!!

Thanks everyone for the ideas. This will definitely help as we start to plan. Although there are so many good ideas here it will be hard to decide. Thanks
