How is the largemouth and smallmouth fishing at Deer Creek? There are some good looking areas for both. Does anyone know the size of the largest of each species taken out of Deer Creek?

Right now it's pretty slow, but in about 2 months it will pick up pretty good. the largmouth population isn't too strong but the smallmouths are way strong. I don't know what the biggest ones are but I've caught a 19 3/4in smallie 6.2lbs. the biggest largemouth was 17 1/2in. I've seen a couple of bigger largemouth then that.

Deer Creek is stuffed with "rats" but every once in a while you'll happen across a big smallie. My biggest out of there was seventeen inches and a bit... I measured it on my tube apron but I've caught tons that are from ten to fourteen inches just thowing rattletraps and soft plastic baits. My only largemouth out of there was caught on a frog pattern Jitterbug on the west shoreline around some brush. It was about fifteen inches but I knew it wasn't a smallie because it just didnt' act pissed off.... [cool] Those are some

little fish...those smallies... But I love em. I usually start catching them around the end of April and then all the way through the end of October or so. During the summer, you usually hook up with some rainbows and other odds and ends fish when you fish a little deeper in the middle of the day for the smallies.
