Hi all, I know most of the southern states have open water year round but we are just getting near it up here in north dakota. The ice in most places is unsafe to walk on but not open enough for the long rods. Anyways to the theme of my post. I'd like to share a few goals I have set for myself for open water 2005.
1. Mountable Crappie (2lbs+ in my book)
2. 20" Largemouth
3. 1 pound bluegill
4. 25" Walleye
Well here are my goals, now what are yours?

My goal is to try and get a bigger smmouth than 19" I got last year and maybe a Lgmouth bass that can be worth mounting. Right about now a perch on the end of a rod would be GREAT.[Wink]

Unsafe ice in North Dakota? I was driving on ice yesterday here in the twin cities.

[ul] [li]I broke the 20 inch barrier on LMB last year but that was on live bait. My goal this year is to do so on artificials. [/li] [li]Hoping to beat the 12 inch mark on crappie and bluegill. [/li] [li]I want to catch my first catfish over 10 pounds. Easy to do if you're in the right area. Guess I'll have to find a new fishing hole for them! [crazy] [/li] [li]I want to catch my first Muskie. I have the gear. Just need the fish. [/li] [li]I want to get my boat on the water for the first time since I've owned it. [/li] [li]I want to catch my first 17 inch smallmouth bass. [/li] [li]I want to win the Carp Contest this year. [/li] [/ul]
(How many goals are we allowed to have?)

[ul] [li]I want to enter my first bass tournament.[/li] [li]I want to outfish Flagmanonice[/li] [li]I want to fish with TubeN2
[/li] [/ul]

DrownedDesertRat, The ice in the northern part of north dakota and eastern parts of north dakota is still safe. I live in central north dakota and we had temps here in the mid 60's for a couple of weeks. I know they are still driving on up north by like the bottineau area and over by the fordville, grand forks areas. Other than that people are breaking through driving on Lake Sakakawea and heard a few reports of trucks going through on Devils Lake.
