[Sad]PYRAMID LAKE, Calif. -- [Image: 4312937_200X150.jpg]A landslide apparently ruptured an oil pipeline Wednesday and spilled up to 42,000 gallons of crude into Pyramid Lake, a reservoir that holds water for Southern California cities, officials said.

Ouch. Not good at all. Another thing for the prayer list! Do you have a link to the story on this?

How do you even start to clean up a mess like that? This could happen to any state. Keep us informed.

I guess that cancels out my chance of striper fishing there this week.[pirate]

The worst part is that some of that water feeds into a pre-reservoir at Castaic Lake.

We need everyones prayers on this one.

Thanks. I'm going to pass this on to my pastor as well.

Do they even allow fishing there?

It seems like they are closing more and more places so we cannot access the best fishing holes anymore. I guess if we can't fish them good ole holes then it's ok for them to ruin it forever with an oil spill. I am not bitter, I am Angry.

Pyramid lake is a hard luck case. It serves as a reservior for Los Angeles so fishing is actually secondary. Although freeway close, it's a windy lake with steep walls for sides making it only accessable by boat, kayak, or float tube.

I believe the concession there went bust a while ago which caused it to be closed for a while. DWP stalled on getting things started again and now this!

That's a shame. Hopefully they can quickly go to work on cleaning it up and mitigating its impact on the water, wildlife, and vegetation. I imagine this will be a heck of a mess, however. These kinds of things make an angler and an outdoorsman sick to his stomach.

[Sad][font "Poor Richard"][green][size 4]Unfortunately, the landslide that broke the oil line was caused by nature. But what really ticks me off are the slobs that go around posing as people. This morning I went over to my regional park to do a little fishing. You might have heard about all the no-smoking laws here in California. Well as a smoker I watch myself very carefully by putting out my cigar and placing it in a proper container. Well today I only saw 4 cigarette butts however, I counted dozens of water bottles [the kind that joggers carry] in and around the water, paper plates, chip bags, etc,etc and so on. Could have made lunch money on all the pop cans that were laying around. There are anti litter laws but apparently no one seems to care. I guess since this is Earth Day, week or whatever that means throw your garbage on the earth but not in my back yard you don't.[/size][/green][/font]
