Full Version: Any good longer lasting dry fly dressing out there?

I use a powder dry fly dressing in the winter to keep the fly afloat and a spray on dressing in the warmer months but I notice each only last abotu 10 casts before I have to re-apply.

Is there a dressing out there that lasts longer than 10 casts?

The best i've ever used is called Frogs Fannie. Most fly shops carry it. It's an ultra fine silicone powder that you work into the fly with a little brush. It takes a little extra effort to apply it but if you do it right it lasts a long time. It can also make nymph fishing fun because it will create an air bubble around your nymph. That can drive the fish crazy.[laugh]

I have tried a lot of brands and I have found Gink to be the best for me. It lasts a long time and is easy to use.

Hey CBR,
The best dressing for me is Loon. I fished with two applications all day on the Henrys Fork from warm river to ashton. It was amazing just two applications lasted for 6 miles of river and fish. This is my favorite but it is just my opinion. Everet
