Night is unquestionably one of the best times to fish for stripers with bait. But white bass, in my experience, turn right off at night. Has anyone tried fishing for Willard wipers at night? Everyone uses anchovies at Powell for night time stripers, using a green light in the water as an attractor for plankton and shad. I don't know if wipers would be interested in anchovies, or if some other bait would work. Just curious. It would be a fun way to fish for wipers.

[black]I've fished Willard in the middle of the night several times. It has never been very productive for me. However, I wasn't using any artificial light of any kind. That might work better.[/black]

[black]BUT ... on those nights that I was targeting wipers, I seemed to do very good with top water lures on the South end just as it starts to get daylight when the water is smooth and glassy. What a hoot![/black]

I love to fish for wipers at night, I think it can be the most productive time. I usually troll shad raps or rapalas.
It also seems to get better as the moon gets fuller.
