Went to Challis Id with some friends over last weekend and WOW what a trip. the fishing was not quite as fast as I'd heard but I talked to some locals and F&G they all said that its still a little early for the steelhead to be very productive. we seen several caught and my brother in law ended up catching the largest one in our group.
we did land tons of whitefish and sucker and a couple rainbow.

suprisingly for the amount of people that were there fishing so close to one another EVERYBODY was extremly friendly and fun to fish with.

Ah, you photos made me homesick for the Salmon river. I used to live in Challis and I fished that river all the time after work( and before work and during lunch time occasionally ). A couple times a week my cohorts form work and I would trade off and some would float in our rafts and fish the distance between Sunbeam or Clayton and Challis. Ah ! Those were the days !

Great pics of your fishes !

BTW - did you end up getting your fill of whitefish ? Were any of them keepers ? They are quite tasty you know. Anyway I enjoyed the moment of nastalgia you provided. Thanx !

we threw back the whitefish and the suckers I just got a report today that the river is hotter than he11 in challis yesterday and today.
the F&G said they reported 300 steelies an hour passing through yesterday.
I WISH I WAS THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
