Received an e-mail today from Irvine Lake asking :[/green] [green]
Does your lake have any catfish of the size in the attached jpeg?[/green]

Haha! That's funny. That's a Wels Cat which was caught in Europe somewhere. People have been trying to claim it was caught in the U.S. for at least a year now.
Now, I'd love to see some guy hook into this thing while in his float tube. He'd become the bobber. LOL. [crazy]

That would be a sight to see a Wells Cat come out of SARL. The size of the one in the picture is close to the size of the CA state record that was caught out of SARL but the record was planted at @100lbs and then caught later when it reached 101lb 4oz.[blush]

][green]Well I had my doubts also for I didn't recognize the scenery. Sent the originator of the e-mail asking "[/green][green]Are you trying to tell me that this cat was recently caught at Irvine Lake? Hadn't read anything about it in the OC Register Venture section. Is this a Wells Cat?" The reply was: "[/green][green]No, I was asking if Irvine had any catfish as big as in the picture. Sorry, if I had mislead anyone." While the e-mail appeared to have come from Irvine lake - I checked the properties of the e-mail and discovered that it didn't. I don't know how he obtained the e-mail addresses of everyone that is registered with Irvine Lake as the message was sent to several dozen people.[/green]
[#008000]Oh well - it did generate some interest.[/#008000] [green][/green]

Stuff like that happens all the time. That particular pic came up about a year or so ago. It is a pretty Cat and I would love to get one of those on 8lb test in my lil ole Fish Kitty 4.
That would be one awesome ride.[cool]

Either way its a great picture of a huge fish! Thanks for sharing Dryrod![cool] I'd like to see someone try to "noodle" a fish like that. Instead of missing fingers he might loose his whole arm or maybe even the whole damn guy

Hi Dryrod,
Now that they got the bait wadda they gonna fish for?
On a serious note, I wouldn't doubt it a bit if we didn't have some dam catfish strain naturally developing and lurking around those dams that generate a constant stream of chum. Wouoldn't be supprised if 'the story' of the diver being scared out of his wits by meeting up with one of those monsters.
Wouldn't be weird to see creatures offspring double their previously considered normal weights in 200 or 300 years. True..... most major dams at present ain't been around over 75 years.
Besides......Look at the sturgeon that was said to weigh anound 2,000 lbs.
