Where are they? I have been looking around and cannot find them on any maps. Please list free way exit # and gps coords if possible. Thanks!

As you are heading west on I-80 you will come to a rest area (no facilities) just before the Tooele exit. Pull in there and walk back to the east along the large pipeline. The ponds are more like a canal that runs between I-80 and the railroad tracks.

I’ve read on here that you certainly don’t want to eat anything from that area due to the high chemical toxicity from Kennecot. Perhaps someone will chime in with more detailed info.

Right next to the view area. Its a long pond but I tubed it the other day and the water is still ICE cold and with the wind blowing the bite has been tough. I got a couple tugs but no fish to show for it... only a chewed up plastic. There are some bass and bluegill in there but yeah, being that close to Kennecott, I would't eat anything out of there either. You might grow an extra arm or something... just kidding. I was kinda freaked out though by the way some of the rock cliffs along 201 there were bleached, I'm guessing by chemical spills and that.... it was that black rock stuff bleached almost white. I just remember thinking.... K, that stuff all runs into the salt lake and the ponds there.... wonder if thats good for my waders and the tube?? Guess you should just hose off your stuff when you get home to make sure. I've been in them (the ponds)a lot of times and caught numbers of smaller bass and gills and they aren't deformed or anything but then neither were the trout out of Arsenic, I mean American Fork creek. [cool] Fishing is much better during warm weather but who knows when that will really be....soon as it gets that way, we are fooled and get another 20 mph wind in front of a big set of rainclouds....
