I have a couple of friends that want to try there luck up at Payson Lakes at ice off. Is the ice off on the lower lake or is it still froze over. Any info would be apprecated!

[#005000]I do know that the "big" lake at the top they usually drain to just about empty every fall. So I'm guessing trying to fish it before it refills would be almost pointless. [/#005000]

The last report on the DWR site said that the upper gate is still closed and Payson lakes are still snowed in. It says the gate should be opened up around Memorial Day.
