Since our regular boat wasn't going out, we dicided to go back to our old stomping grounds.

We went on the Gentleman 3/4 day fishing boat out of Channel Island Sportsfishing Landing in Oxnard. We left at 6:00 am and headed north in the Channel.

Since the water was still around 54 degrees, and other boats had reported no luck at the Islands, we ended up going to an area called the Dome. It is about 8 miles S S/W of Santa Barbara.

We pulled in a good assortment of Rockfish including, Starry Eyes, Greenbacks, Red Striped, Chuckle Heads, Treefish, Barber Poles, Bocaccios and a few choice Reds.

No lings and no Sheepshead were around at the 340 feet that we were fishing.

We returned to the dock around 5:30pm just in time to head down to Long Beach area.

Hey there TubeN2,

I can hardly wait until May when we can again catach a whole bunch of fish in less than the 180 feet. You can bet I'm gonna get a snad-dab-for-bait fish-for-ling-cod trip charter as I did last year. Ya... and the ling cod length will be 24 instead of 30 inches if the regs hold and I'm not mistaken!!!!!

As of last weekend, the DFG lifted the curse on us poor salties. They opened the realm back up. We can now fish freely from the 0 to 360 foot mark.

Now we can admire more freely the lunker Sheepsheads and the Luscious Lings from the shallows.[cool] I don't know how many JPs we had to discard just because of silly regs.[Tongue]
