Have the smallmouth started biting at either of these lakes yet, I would love to learn how to fish for them. I have only caught a handful. I will be fishing from the shore, just was wondering if anybody has some tips on where to go, or is the water still to cold. THANKS[Smile]

Lake X warmed to 42 degrees last sunday at Rockcliff .Didn't find any bass . Bows are there but no perch bite yet . Rockcliff boat ramp appears to be complete and no road block now . Water is still low , but river was flowing well .

[cool]Thanks for the report and pics, Randy, and to TubeDude for riling me up for the smallies this year. '05 is definitely the year for me to get more serious about the smallies! Holy crap, that lake is low! Man, it's even lower looking than in August (last time I was there). Sure hope that lake comes up at least 10 feet this year! The good news is that the snow melt hasn't even really started yet.

Thanks for taking the time to post that great update and pix!

Does anyone know why X is still so low, and DC is full?

I know of a couple folks who have been getting some smallmouth out of jordanelle.

But, its less than fast action.

Being that you are wanting to pick up some more expirience, I would say go low. Unless you have an iron will. If a guy is willing to stick it out through the grueling cold, and tough conditions, with a lot of patience and an open minded aproach I would bet he could pick up some real nice fish as the water slowly warms.

But if you just want some bassin action, theres plenty of lower elevation lakes where the water is already warming up quick.

Thanks for all of the info guys. I just need to get some free time and go catch some smallies.

The water folks wanted Deer Creek full for down stream obiligations(can you say June Sucker) and the belief that the snow pack will do a good job in filling Jordanelle without holding water.
