I don't usually post my spring and summer trips with my 4 yr. old because we do more goofing and playing than fishing, but I'll make an exception here. We gave mommy some rest this afternoon, and headed over to Lincoln beach. We were at the boat launch. I was hoping to pick up a few crappie for dinner, and Rachel could fish and play safely there without bothering anyone. We arrived a little after 5PM. Rachel tossed out the infamous Barbie pole and caught a couple of mudcats while she maintained interest. I strung up with a jig called a Charlie Bee which is a roadrunner type lure with a small "slider" plastic jig on it. I tipped with a small piece of crawler. Right off, I picked up a modest walleye, then a couple of crappie. Unfortunately, after about 45 minutes, my big fisherwoman informed daddy that she had an intestinal complaint.[
] It was apparent that she wasn't faking it so we started to get ready to leave. On my "last cast", I hooked something bigger. Much bigger. I figured it was a carp or channel cat, but there was something familiar with the style of fight.................[
] To get to the point, it was another eye, a very nice eye! 27 1/4 inches long worth of nice. It was my personal best.[

] Rachel got to hold the pole too as I fought it and as I beached it (what was I thinking), so I guess it is her personal best too. Figuring we had been sufficiently blessed by the angling gods, we left to go home and resolve Rachels problem. Happy to report, she is better now. Whew, what a night.

Good to hear Rachel's ok and congrats on the good-looking 'eye. Dang, you beat my personal best by a 1/4". I got stuck doing some home improvement stuff so I wasn't able to join you. I should have dropped the paint brush and headed over to Lincoln Beach.

[cool]Wow, nice fish, dude! What would you guess she weighed-7 or 8 lbs? I can't wait till my daughter is 4 to take fishing. That will be awesome. Got another 3 years till that happens though. I think I'm headed to Utah Lake on Wednesday p.m., because it looks like the best weather day there next week. Already got a kitchen pass. Heck, I'd just settle for a dink Walleye at this point, since I haven't gotten rid of the 'eye skunk yet. Hopefully Wednesday will be the day it happens!

Way to go![
] We got there too at 530 pm.We saw you and rachel as we pulled in .My wife joked around and said that little girl is going to outfish her dad.[
] Guess she was right. We went to the end of the road from the boat ramp. There was a lot of people there parked .I was thinking maybe fishing around were you were cause of the overcrowding and the wind.We didnt catch anything over there but wind.Bet R[sly]achel was exited about catching her first walleye!

That's pretty sweet man. I wish Utah Lake was a little closer for me, as my little girl would have a blast out there!

Great looking fish!! You've inspired me to go back out Wednesday [sly]. I caught a decent sized Channel Cat near the boat launch last week as the storm was rolling in.
Three more years and I think I'm going to have to purchase the Barbie pole for my 4 year old!! [] What can you do?!?!?

Yes wednesday seems like it going to be a good day .I most likely be out there after work wednesday.Cats should start biting consistently as soon as it gets warm. The eyes are still biting fairly good .Maybe i will see ya there if you go in the afternoon.

[#505000]I'll be there probably after 4pm likely until dark. You fish from shore or out on a boat/tube/pontoon? If I can find a spot and I don't think it will be too tough on a Wednesday I'll likely fish from the boat launch somewhere. If you see me give me a shout! [laugh][/#505000]

I fish from shore.I usually fish at the end of the road on the southside of the boat ramp.I usually stay till dark too.If its windy then i usually fish the south side of that road blocked from the wind or inside the boat ramp area.I will probably be driving my brown corolla.I will probably get there about 4 too because my family will want to go fishing too.I get off at 3 then drive to mona then too lincoln.See ya there.

That is a nice fish. After having moved from Utah I am amazed that Utah lake turns out walleye like yours regularly. It is the Columbia river of Utah

Dad, the
on Rachel's face says it all, someday she'll get a bigger one on the Barbie pole! Nice fish!
