Well we started at the south side .Fished the channel were the water was coming in.No bites and only a few cats and carp were being caught so we left after an hour.Hit the south west corner and fished there for a couple of hours and nothing.Moved to the southside and again nothing .Moved a little more to the east several times and again not a bite. Threw just about everything i had.Soaked a worm on one rod even that didnt get a nibble.Used jigs all sizes and colors and different retreives also used producers ,crankbaits top water plugs used different colors and sizes and nothing.Used spinners that TD gave me at yuba last year and a variety of other sizes and colors even a jakes just to make sure i tried everything and nada!Forgot the dynamite so i couldnt use that either![
] I talked to several people there and no one had a bite all day.Didnt see or hear anyone on a boatcatch anything either. The day was good no rain some cloud cover and even the sun showed itself . Wasnt windy was just right. Talked to an older couple there as i was leaving and they didnt get a bite either. Guess he has fished willard a long time and was telling me about the old days when he and his son used to nail the wipers there.Stopped at lincoln on the way back and the wind had picked up so got skunked all day .But at least we ddint get rained on!

Sounds like you gave it everything you had, too bad you didn't catch anything but at least you got out and didn't get rained on. Thanks for posting your report. Last week there were a few reports of a crappie and wipers being caught in the Northwest corner in and around the willows that are sticking out of the water. Thats very close to the parking area but it's a pay area. Well I hope you do better next time, the catching should be getting better very soon. WH2

My girl friend and I also went fishing on the same saturday to willard. We fished the inlet that just opened didn't get a bite, so we left to the south side of the lake, but nothing. So i said lets try the light pole on the West side of the lake. My girl friend caught a small mouth bass about 3 feet out in the water. I was glad she caught something, it made the trip worth it. That was the only fish we caught or saw caught the entire day. I think it is time to re-think fishing the inlet on opening day, to many fisherman and to little fish activity. We also got checked by the Fish'n'game and they said her fish was the only fish caught that wasn't a junky. Well maybe next time the fish will be biting.

I thought about hitting the light post but it usually is overcrowded with boaters so i stayed away. The water in the inlet was so muddy i think it kept the wipers and eyes out of there.I wish i had a boat i would have fished the mudline out in the lake.Bet there were a ton of fish stacked right by there.
