Fished Deer Creek Reservoir Saturday with LloydE. We launched from Island State Park. Wow -- it looked like at most only four feet of additional water is needed to be at full level! We first tried vertical jigging for walleye north of the island. We didn't even see any fish on the fishfinder, let alone get any bites. We spent the rest of the day trolling for trout. Each of us managed to get two rainbows to the net. I lost two and had one break my leader (damaged leader that I should have replaced). Nothing huge, the largest was about 18 inches long. Water temperature never got over 50.3 degrees. When we left we were asked by a DWR employee to complete a survey. He said that he had interviewed approximately 50 other fishermen/women and about every fifth one had caught a fish. He said that all of the fish were running the same size that we had caught, and that no one he checked had caught a walleye. He said some claimed that they had been catching a few walleye at night.

Your results are pretty standard - when we went we saw most of the fish in the old creek channel in 25' to 32' of water - which is quiet close to the far end of the lake - but the trout were the only takers.

Once the spawn starts (should be anytime) then evening fishing will be pretty good but can to a zoo up by the Provo river inlet. This is where I've seen anything that could float on the water after dark - float tubes, canoes, & boats.

Usually the bait of choice is chartreuse curly tailed jigs casted becasue there was too many folks to troll.
