I am going to the gorge for 3 days and am taking my brother-in-law who has never been there. Need some advice on catching kokes in the sheep creek and hide-out area. (Please) I have trolled for macks in hide-out and caught a couple on a red and white spoon but none over 11 pounds. Any help on what to troll in the same areas would be great also. I don't have the equipment to jig or even the knowledge to do it, so that is why I troll all the time. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Trying to get my brother addicted to fishing so I can go more often. Thaanks again for any advice!!!

i had good luck for kokes on shasta gear a couple of weeks ago. the koke a nut following a sling blade dodger was the best for the kokes. it also caught a mac or two. also the cripplelure caught its share of kokes, and plenty of bows. i fished the sheep creek/hidden area one morning. i didnt have much luck thier. the red cliffs area wasnt too bad. good luck!

Thanx for your support of my company B-Kidder I would agree with him d-ray The koke-nut has been hot as well as the green cripplure behind 2 green sling blades. I have also found that the New glow pink Cripplures are taking off and they will be ready for sale next week.(I Will have some to give away at the derby, come find me) Also the Hootchie/ squid's that are new to our line up are producing some big Kokes. You will never go wrong with a green sling blade/Cripplure combo on one side of the boat and a pink glow sling blade/Koke-nut on the other. Call me if you have any question's I sent a P.M. with my number ....BEST OF LUCK

Jared, I will be fishing with my friends on May 9-12. Tell me again how to find you on the water. We will be on a old 70's glass boat. Kyle Cummins is the Captain and his loves to catch Kokes. We will be trying in the area you told me about 2 weeks ago. Anyway, hope to see you up there.

i was able to pick up a couple of extra koka a nuts at the lucerne marina...they have a ton of stuff. as does the sinclair that is right on the state line outside of manilla.

jared- when you run two sling blades does it cause a whole circle? or does it just cause more side to side? do you space them with a leader, or clip them right together? how far back do you run the lure behind that setup? also, what kind of hooks do these new hoochies have? will they be good for macks with a flasher?

i wish i could join you guys up their next week! unfortunately everyone i fish with cant go up until memorial day. so, we'll be up then! hope you all have great luck!

Thanks.

I'll be up there that week as well. Not fishing the derby or anything. I'll be in a green and white Starcraft with outboards. What boat you got?

Thank you bkidder and sockeyeslayer for the information and my boat is a blue and white seaswirl (old '76) with a pair of newer mercury outboards. We will be camping just south of the hide-out boat campsites. I live in Tremonton, so we will stop in Riverdale, at the Sportsman Warehouse and stock up on gear. Is the Flaming Gorge fishing derby that weekend? If so, we won't be in it but we'll be fishing our butt's off none-the-less. Thanx again for the info.

I'm no expert on the Gorge but I know you can hook a few macs on Flat Fish T-60 , T-50 in rainbow and Mother of pearl colors this time of year . I was Fishing by some guys in pontoons with electric trolling motors on them and there biggest they caught that day went 26# . They used a 2oz. bannana sinker to get it down deeper . I was stuck close to shore jigging in my float tube with no luck that day . Need to get back up there and give it another shot . Dying to be the "bobber" on one of those big macks . Good Luck

In reply to both you a B-kidder I run a 22 ft Grady White Walkaround with Yamaha 225 and 9.9 kicker..My boat say's E-FISH-N-SEA on the side and it's hard to miss. As far as running the bait's snap the Sling blades together and run a leader of 22 inches to 28 inches. I'll get back to you

Thank you Hellsangler69 for the info!!!! I do have a couple of big flat fish and so I will try them. How deep would you troll these lures? I have been to the gorge only a handful of times and marked fish from 10 feet to 170 feet. And that's in 200 to 250 feet of water. I just don't have the knowledge of the lake to know how to fish the macs. I can catch rainbows all day long with a popgear and a worm trolled out the back of the boat. But I have a real hard time catching the macs and the kokes. Thank you for the information!!!!!
