COMINS LAKE
Rainbow trout are attempting to spawn at the White Pine County lake and this has made them reluctant to bite. Two Las Vegas anglers who were at the lake on Friday (4/22/05) said the fish refused to take PowerBait, but they were biting on live crickets. The fishermen managed to catch several 2½-pound rainbows with crickets placed on size eight hooks.
[#990033]EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR [/#990033]
Rains that have soaked Lincoln County have caused high water flows into the reservoir. This has clouded the water and slowed the fishing.
[#990033]ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR[/#990033]
Runoff from recent storms has raised the water level and produced murky conditions in the lake. Fishing is poor because of the murky water.
[#990033]LAKE MEAD[/#990033]
Fishing just continues to get better, according to reports received by Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) from anglers fishing in the Boulder Basin and Overton Arm.
The best action is still taking place from the 33 Hole to Las Vegas Wash where anglers are enjoying consistent action for striped bass. The tires at Lake Mead Marina are producing stripers and channel catfish. Shad are being netted for use as bait in Las Vegas Wash.
Two boaters who were trolling deep in the canyon near Hoover Dam on Monday (5/2/05) told NDOW that they caught 4 stripers. A few stripers have been caught recently off Hemenway Harbor. Fishing has been slow in the Callville Bay area.
NDOW creel census clerks saw 125 stripers at the Overton Beach fish cleaning station on Saturday (4/30/05). Most of the fish were caught in open water between St. Thomas and Overton Beach.
A pair of anglers told NDOW creel clerks that they caught and released 3 smallmouth bass and 2 largemouth bass on Sunday (5/1/05) while fishing south of Echo Bay Marina.
[#990033]LAKE MOHAVE[/#990033]
Fishing has been gradually improving for small striped bass in the Cottonwood Cove area. Stripers weighing around a pound are being caught in the narrows above the Cottonwood Cove.
Fishing was difficult following last week’s rainbow trout plant at Willow Beach. Most of the 30 anglers who were on hand only managed to catch two or three fish. This week’s plant will be held on Friday (5/6/05).
[#990033]WAYNE E. KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA[/#990033]
The area received more than two inches of rain during April. All five lakes are full as a result of the recent storms.
Rainbow trout fishing has been somewhat slow recently because the fish are attempting to spawn. NDOW believes the action will improve soon because the fish are nearing the end of their spawn.
Temperatures on the area have been in the low 30s at night and warming to the low 60s during the day.
[#990033]URBAN PONDS[/#990033]
Channel catfish will be stocked on Thursday, May 12, in ponds at Floyd Lamb State Park, Lorenzi Park and Sunset Park in Las Vegas and Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City.

"Fishing has been slow in the Callville Bay area. "

I picked up 3 bass in the afternoon last Thursday in Callville without really working at it. Hmmm.....Gotta know where to look I guess.
