Idaho 2006-2007 fishing rule proposals
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's something from the F&G website that I thought some of you would be interested in.

Fisheries Managers Seek Input

Fisheries managers with the Idaho Department of Fish and Game want your opinion about proposals for the 2006-2007 fishing rules.
Fish and Game is proposing that limits on walleye and northern pike should be removed except where Fish and Game actively manages these species.
"The motivation behind this change is the increased level of illegal transplants of these two species in recent years," said Fisheries Manager Dale Allen.

Haven't I seen this same idea proposed by PBH on this site? Sounds smart to me...it also looks like Idaho biologists are having the same problems with walleye that Utah biologists are having.

I personally think it would save the dwr money in the long run to do the same thing. Remove restrictions on illegally introduced fish.

Wyoming will be doing this same thing in 2006 for the gorge.they will be changing the regs so that all ling and walleyes caught in the green river drainage will have to be kept and killed immediately. They feel this is the best way to control illegally introduced fish.

Makes sense to me. Personally, I think there should be a lot of changes. i think perch should be removed from the gamefish list, and the crappie limit should be increased.

I do really like the idea, BUT it would add even more complication to the regs.
