Hi all, new user first post. I'm looking at a simple no frills pontoon I found online, named Cimarron. Not sure of the mfg. Any experience with this particular boat? Usage would be a couple of times a month during the summer. Possibly for running the Green river, too.

[#0000ff]The Cimarron is made by Trout Unlimited. They generally turn out a decent craft. I have owned one of their Kennebec "mini pontoons". [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Don't get the Cimarron if you are planning to use it for river running. It is only 8 feet and the requirement is that it be at least 9 feet, and approved for fast water. Not all 9' craft are good enough to handle fast water.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The price is good, for a starter pontoon. I noticed that WalMart has it online for $182. You might do better on ebay or some other discount operation.[/#0000ff]

Does that size limit include Utah?
Most of my plans (like 95%) would revolve around local lake fishing, maybe some forays into the Uintas for some of those lakes.

The Trout Unlimited 9 footer is rated for rivers, and it's only 315 or so at sam's club.

I saw it at Sam's here for $299. Don't know if the wife is willing to spend that much but I'll start pushing her buttons.

Just get a sam's club credit card and get her one too[

[cool][#0000ff]The size restriction is only on rivers, but it definitely is a requirement in Utah that your pontoon is at least 9 feet. If you are going to do mostly lake fishing, and if you don't plan to put a motor on it, you might even look at downsizing to a good tube or mini pontoon.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Hey, Mateo, isn't that the first rule for maintaining a happy marriage...always get the spouse something of equal value...or a credit card?[/#0000ff]

There's such a thing as a happy marriage[shocked]?
It doesn't have to be of equal value. It just has to sparkle.
