fished quail saturday nite from my tube. caught 1 14" LM on a senko texas rigged on the north end about 20 feet deep. started throwing a finness worm into the trees out in the middle over a branch letting it fall straight into the middle of them to the bottom then just bouncing it, had some good hits and finally hooked one, when i got it up it jumped out over another limb and hung itself up. i tried to snatch it out of the tree but it shook loose too soon. looked to be about 4 to 5 lbs though.

went to sand hollow at sun up sun. morning. lots of action on the surface so i tried some topwater stuff. had some chachers but no hits. i switched to senkos and stated gettin bites. hooked quite a few small LM's. found a flooded picknick table in 6" of water 5' off shoer, casted under it and nailed a 16" toad! stardted casting right to the shore line and hooked a 15" and a few more small ones.

bluegill were everywhere so when the bass bite slowed i tried for a few gills for a fish fry. put on a 3/4" bitsy wiggler crainkbait and to my surprise i caught 3 to 9" LM's on nearly every cast. didnt even have to reel it in. it was cast and set the hook the second it hit the water!!!!!! little suckes weren't much challenge but it kept me entertained for a good 30 mins.

went over to quail to try it again for a bit. started walking the shoreline near the dam hitting each cove moving north up the lake. wadded out waist deep in each one and pulled a 12 th 15" LM out of 2 of four coves i tried. had bites in all but too many people were swimming nearby.

went back to the north end to check it out. wasnt ther more than 20 mins. when the helicopters dumpin water on the fire started dipping in to fill their water baskets right in front of me. ended up watching that for a while then they closed the road and one landed right on top of where i was at to refuel. the fishing was pretty much killed at that point but it was interesting to watch them fight that fire. i could see the whole process of filling up, dumping water and coming back for more from my vantage point. they took care of that blaze really quickly.

when i get em developed i'll put up a few pics of the nicer bass and the helicopter landin on me.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Have you ever pulled some big LM bass out of there, or are they all less than 15"?

at the end of april and into early may i caght a lot more and with that a lot more big ones. i was getting some 3 to 5 pounders routinely and the occasional 6 pounder. my biggest was 8 lbs. (there are some pics of a couple of big ones on one of my past posts if you search it out) but for the last few weeks the big ones seem to have been few and far between.

I live in vegas and my girlfriend lives in coral canyon so I will be going to quail and hollow a lot. I am new to bass fishing and do not know really anything. What would be some good tips for a beginner on these two lakes. Thanks.
