Once I purchase a two-pole permit, on which waters can I use two fishing rods at the same time? Also, I know there's a fee for the permit, so how much is it?
Also, is anyone going fishing this weekend during Free Fishing Day? I'm still trying to decide if it would be worth it to fight the crowds. I guess I could take the aluminum 14-footer out and maybe get away from the shoreline masses.
Any BFTers getting together this weekend, or is everyone self-relegating himself to yardwork to avoid the mass fishing melee?

If you check the proclamation you will be able to find out this information, but in a nutshell, a 2 pole permit costs $15, plus you must already have your regular fishing license. Using 2 poles is limited to mainly "warm-water" (i.e. non-trout waters) lakes. You can use 2 poles on the following waters:
Bear River (including Cutler reservoir and the outlet canals)
D.M.A.D.
Flaming Gorge
Gunlock Reservoir
Gunnison Bend
Hyrum Reservoir
Little Bear River (below Valley View Hwy)
Utah Lake
Lake Powell
Malad River
Newton Reservoir
Pelican Lake
Pineview
Starvation
Willard Bay
Yuba

The 2 pole permit is basically good at only some of the larger resevoirs and lakes(with some exceptions) - Utah Lake, Willard, Pineview, Starvation, DMAD, Pelican,Yuba, Gunnison, Gunlock and a few others. It's best to check the proclamation for the specific water's regulations. I am not sure of the criteria used by the DWR to determine which body of water qualifies.

Hey Fishhound, good to hear from you again. The criteria for the 2-pole permit is for water that does not have trout as the main draw.
I know you are going to bring up Yuba but the trout in there won't last very long because walleyes will be in there overpopulating, crowding out the trout. The 2-pole permit is for warm-water lakes if you will notice the lakes on the list are all warm-water habitants.
I would love to see 2-pole permit for Deer Creek but that's not allowed because of the trout's population.

Yes, a 2-pole permit is required to use two poles even on Free Fishing day. Also, I was reading the proc. and noticed that children under 14, even though they can fish without a license anytime, if they want to use 2 poles on any of the allowed waters, they must buy BOTH a full regular fishing license AND a 2-pole permit.
