LAKE MEAD - Reports of limits of stripers continue to come in around Gregg Basin and Sandy Point. The threadfin shad are having a banner year according to anglers who are seeing them in huge numbers around crappie lights fished at night. With the shad, so go the stripers, so get some frozen anchovies and go catch stripers at Mead. The courtesy dock is still available at South Cove until the lake drops another 8-feet. Striped bass activity has picked up along Boulder Beach. Anglers fishing in 40 to 60 feet of water were doing excellent catching stripers up to 7 pounds using anchovies and shad. Fishing for catfish has also been good using anchovies and dip-baits. In general, fish respond to stable weather with increased feeding activity, so get out and take advantage of the hot fishing in the hot weather. Largemouth bass fishing has also been good around Sandy Point and the Hualapai Bay area.
LAKE MOHAVE - No new reports. Temperatures and boating activity are on the rise. Early morning and late-night fishing will help avoid some of the boating traffic. Also, the further north you go from Katherine's Landing, the less boating traffic there is. Look for smaller coves north of the power lines to find a nice fishing spot away from too much activity. Anchovies are still working well for catching stripers. Use frozen anchovies and keep them on ice to keep the anchovies from falling apart. Some anglers have been known to use dry ice to keep their anchovies frozen. If you're fishing from shore, try Davis Dam, Princess Cove, and Cabinsite. Anglers have been using crankbait and Gizits to fish for largemouth bass.
