Right now the shad are running on the Columbia. You should be able to see a few salmon also...

Here is the link - you might have to refresh to see fish....

Reminds me of when we stopped in the town of Cascade locks on the Columbia. The dam there had windows where you could watch the fish swim by. Some of those things are monsters! They also had an aquarium with a 14 foot sturgeon in it. Cool place to visit if you're ever headed to Portland or Seattle.
Wow that is a cool shots!

Probably alot of folks do not know how big the shad run is - how about 171,000 yesterday... also if you look at the cam after dark you will see the eels running and see them stuck to the glass like spagetti.

Here is another link that show the fish counts

I'm just missing the fun of the shad fishing - I remember catching 15 to 20 in day and then keeping them for bait. The are a true battler with a soft mouth and bite on little white jigs like crappie.

Also I have been eeling after dark in the small creeks - flash light, long pole with a treble hook, and a burlap bag. We use to get them for bait also - or sell them for a dollar each. The good old days...
