I know this is ALOT LATE, but I got thinking.......

What if BFT and[#0000bf] BACA[/#0000bf] got togeather once a year on free fishing day?

My point, get everyone out from the TV and video games to have fun fishing.

I know all of us fish with our kids, but if we teamed up with [#0000bf]BACA[/#0000bf] ([#bf0000]Bikers Against Child Abuse[/#bf0000]) I think we could have a number one great time!!!!

This year is out of the question, but what about next year????

I can contact the Pres of [#0000bf]BACA[/#0000bf] and work it out.
In addition, maybe get some sponsers and do some prizes...

What do you all think?

I think anytime parents and their kids go fishing its a great deal. The free fishing day is the perfect time to start kids in a sport they may enjoy for a lifetime. So if BFT and BACA can join forces for the youngsters all the better..

[cool]Sounds like a great cause, man. I'd be in on it. So, you a biker, Law? What kinda hog do ya ride? Anyway, I'd be up for this next year. Keep us posted, and I'd help out in what ever way I could. We could probably even get Sportsmans Wherehouse, the DWR, and all kinds of folks involved, but I'm not good at organizing events like this, but I'll sure volunteer to help where I can.

I should mention this...... BACA is a Nation wide Orginization that started here in Utah.
I won't get personal about this but I have a GREAT respect for BACA, and contacts.

I have had personal experiance with these kids.... I took them fishing, I took them photographing, i did alot with them.

Oh, and Out4Trout.... I owned 2.... 72 Sportster (Utah)Custom shift)) When I Lived in AZ it was a 94 custom by a local AZ builder.......... Had to sell the AZ bike when I moved back to UT.[]

[#505000]Sadly BACA is getting away from thier core mission and are acting more and more like a outlaw motorcycle gang. Recently on one of their rides a child sex offeder was riding WITH them. Utah County Law Enfrocement agencies are parting ways with them and with that I don't know if BFT would be wise to get involved with them.[/#505000]

I couldn't agree more with SVPDGCAR. There are a lot of groups around that either start out good and go bad or pretend to be good but deep down are full of crap. I don't know a lot of the BACA members personally and I'm sure some of them are good people but I know for a fact that there are a lot of dirt bags in their organization. It only takes a couple of idiots to ruin a good thing. I personally wouldn't be involved in an activity with BACA because of those few they allow to be involved that shouldn't be involved.

One more thing...... an event like this wouldn't neccesarily need to be only on "free fishing day" because children who are in State's custody are exempt from needing a fishing license. I fear crowds so I try to avoid Christmas shopping the day after Thanksgiving, Lagoon on the weekends, and free fishing day.

Marshall_Law, Its funny you bring this up. Not completely related we just set up a deal to launch a series of Motocross/Motorcycle sites. I also have been throwing around the idea of trying to work something out with the AMA or SRAC to do a combination racing/fishing event. My son races 50cc motocross and its funny because the kids are all in gear when they meet at the track and they don't get a chance to socialize with each other all that much. The fact that many of the tracks they race at have areas that offer great fishing got me to thinking a combination event would give the parents and kids a chance to meet, have some fun that also offered everyone the chance to socialize seemed like a good idea.

As for what you are purposing I think riding, and fishing offer kids great outlets to have fun without getting distracted with some of the many potentially negative activities out there. I do see some of the challenges with pulling off something like this but think it is worth a conversation. If you talked to the folks at BACA and there seems to be a fit we would be interested in discussing it further.

The talk of partnering BFT with another organization got me thinking. What is the protocol on BFT logo, likeness, and "official" involvement? Can any member organize an event under the BFT banner, or would someone have to get "clearance from corporate", as it were?

I'm just unfamiliar with how the whole site is structured, who's in charge of the whole deal, and what leeway is given to users to use the BFT name.

Any input? Mods?

BFT has a great bunch! I was just thinking about kids who don't have the chance to get out.... I just thought that if BFT and BACA got togeather, it may spark interest in getting outdoors more.

I have talked with 2 members of BACA and they think it's an awsome idea.

Those of you who have issues with BACA, I can't say im sorry... I do not know of them or ever heard of them.

BACA does a great service to kids... I will leave it at that.

That is a tough question. It really depends on the event and circumstances. There is some potential legalities depending on the event but certainly members of BFT do not need BFT's permission to all meet up and have some fun or use these forums to organize get together's. It would really depend on how much involvement, what type of event, and BFT's level of direct participation.[/size][/size]

[#505000]Here is the problem Fishluvr and I have with BACA. We are both involved in law enforcment and recently there have been a lot of problems being caused by BACA in our city and reports of BACA related problems across the county. Two high ranking law enforcement personnel in the county used to ride with BACA but left the group recently because of these issues the group is having. I'm sure the majority of their members are great guys and gals concerned about kids but there has been a bad element creeping in lately in the form of criminal bike gangs. Sundowers a outlaw motorcycle gang are starting to make a big showing in the state and are really starting to recruit from BACA. Members are floating back and forth between the groups. The Sundowners are similar to Hells Angels and are involved with prostitution, and drug dealing among other things. [/#505000]
