Fishhound and Myself went up to Little Dell for a little bit of Friday Night Fishing Fever. We got into the water about 5pm and fished until 8:45. We fished from the yak's. The water was real cold. It was windy for most of the trip. The wind was warm most of the time because it was blowing up the canyon but about 8pm it it started to blow down the canyon and cool the temp right down
Fishhound caught 4 Cutt's on a Rapala. I caught 10 Cutt's on the Shad rap. I lost a Nice Brookie at the yak. It was about 18". I was thinking about fish Taco's before I had the fish Landed. The largest Cutt was about 20" and the smallest was about 12".
I paddled up to the inlet and Paddled up as far up As I could. I found a nice place between some floating logs to take a break from the wind. I had a nice fish on for a few seconds. It had pulled the yak in to the log jam and came unbuttoned. We saw some deer and a beaver this trip.

It was still in the lake just near where all the dead falls are when the lake is low. Where does it say that in the Proclamation. I don't see it.

well you know to be honest with you i have not ever seen it in proc.
last year a DWR officer told me the creek was closed until 7/10 to allow the cutts to spawn
now being that its not in print you could probably fight a ticket in court and win but i've found its better not to argue with a DWR officer and don't want no part of judge judy !!! LOL

Thank's Hellsangler. But My question is is where is the head waters and was I fishing In the reservoir or was it really the inlet. I don't know. The water is so high it was hard to tell. Next time I won't go near if it might mean a ticket.

Is the "Friday Night Fever" in reference to the party that was going on next door when I dropped you off ? Did you go ? It did sound pretty happening.
Anyway ...
My report of the activities of the evening.
Another glorious day exploring more of the possibilites of Yak fishing. This time I only brought minimal gear - one rod, a net(which I didn't use), my stuffed fishing vest, a camera(which I also didn't use), and a bottle of water. My intent was to concentrate on trolling - forward and backward and casting in different directions for distance and accuracy while sitting on the Yak.
With a little practice, I found that trolling can be quite productive and fun. The biggest difficulty I had was trying to time putting down the kayak paddle in time to set the hook(I use single barbless hooks on everything when I troll and intend to release fish - yes, fish can throw it much easier that way). It would probably be a little easier with a mounted rod holder, but I found holding the rod with my leg or foot worked adaquately.
A rod leash is a must ! The biggest fish I got, almost took my rod for a swim but the reel just happened to fall and lodge between my knees and I was lucky not to loose rod reel and fish. By design, the paddle was attached to the kayak so it only splashed when I tossed it and grabbed frantically to save the rig, set the hook and catch the fish. After getting back in control of boat, boater and fish, I attempted to use the net I had brought. Somehow, the lanyard got wrapped around a bungie and when I pulled it the shock cord reacted by launching it behind the kayak into the water - it floats. Well, I set the hook, fought the fight, launched the net, pulled in the paddle with the fish - landed the fish and paddle at the same time(on 4 pound line), released the beast unharmed, then turned around and retrieved my net that was floating in the water, and started to troll again - thankfull that there were only 4 people on the lake. After that close encounter, I leashed my rod at all times while not actively casting.
