Fished DC with the kids yesterday. Arrived in the afternoon and left at dinner time. We trolled for trout and the action was slow but steady. We caught five and lost many more. We even squeezed in a little tubing and knee boarding.

Started out with spoons on downriggers and a few long lined rapalas. I marked very few fish and the only thing that caught fish was a silver/black rapala longlined (that should tell you where the fish are). I wound up slowly switched baits on the other lines to rapalas. Even tried other colors but the silver was all they wanted.

It was good to be on the water and blow the cobwebs out of my motors, reels, and mind. It was a great day with the kids.

Thanks for the report Gumbo, any idea when the walleye catching will start this year?

Curt, I talked to a DWR officer who said that the walleye are hurting right now due to the limted perch numbers. The high water covering several years of growth should help the perch rebound. Lots of fat 'bows though.
