We set out for the Ventura Pier around 4:30pm. There was only a mild breeze but not enough to deter us from fishing it.
We arrived at 7pm and joined up with some of our regular Pier Rat friends that hang out there alot.
Several nice Spiny Dogfish were landed and released. The Bat rays were also having their fun too.
We stayed only until 11:30 so that we could get to the Ciscos Landing area in time for the tail end of the Grunion run.
We arrived at Ciscos Landing and the run was just starting.
No great numbers of Grunion were there but there were just enough to save for bait for pier fishing.
We stopped fishing around 4:00am and checked in line for the Gentleman 3/4 day boat.
The Gentleman left @6:20 am and returned to the harbor arond 4:30 pm.
Capt John, DH Brian, DH/Capt Mike, PH Sean and Cathy at the spatula.
We caught the regular mish mash of various species of Rock Fish. Several short Lings came up and found a safe return.
There were not many fish biting neither on the bait in the water nor the Bait that we supplied.
After returning to the dock, we headed for the Port Hueneme Pier.
We fished the rest of the nigth there and caught many duplicate species that included, Spiny Dogfish, Batrays, Spotfin croakers, Yellowfin Croakers, Shiner Surfperch, Spanish Macks and the usual Sand Sharks.
We left there at 3:50 to get to the landing by 4:00.
We arrived at the Landing by 4am, checked in and went for a quick nap.
We boarded the boat at 5:45am and headed out promptly at 6:00am
This time we headed for the Dome area just off of the Santa Barbara coast.
The fishing started off slow and the Lings started off really small.
By around 12 noon, the current slowed down and so did the drift speed.
We did a few nice drifts and yielded close to boat limits in a rather short time.
We caught the usual variety of Rocky critters and a fair amount of lings. Only 1 legal.
JP was won by a medium Bocaccio.
We returned to the dock around 4:25 with limits on Rockfish.
We returned home around 6:30pm.[cool]
