I am loading my arsenol for this weekens trip to Flaming Gorge. I haven't caught a Mack that wasn't stocked before and need to know what I should pick up at Sportmans? Any thoughts?

I don't know exactly what Sportsman's carries up there. Down here they have whole wall of soft plastics. I fish tubes with 1/2 to 1 ounce heads and anywhere from 4" to 7" in length. Green fleck, cinnamon fleck, white, pearl, and green glow will all work. Most of the time you want to jig very slowly, and don't raise it more than 6" above the bottom. Hits will be very subtle and you need to be completely focused or you'll miss them.

If you don't use tube jigs, you can use large rapalas and troll slow. Sometimes they will come up 10 to 15 feet to take a rapala. If you jig with tubes, try and move it very slow like has been said and only move it 2 inches. The slower and barely off the bottom is best. Be ready for the tiny tick. You better have braided line or some non stretch line so your set is quick. Remember focus, focus, focus. Let the force be with you.

Craig, if your going to be in your float tube or toon, send me a PM. I found a spot the last time I was up there that is close to a launch area and protected from the wind that would be perfect if you don't have a boat. We also caught a bunch of lake trout and kokes there.

I am coming up with Bassrods. Plan is to run up north and look for hot fishing spots and then camp on the shore close to the hot fishing areas we find.
