[#505000]Fishluvr and I took the misseses out to Scofield yesterday to chase some trout, something I've not done in a very long time. We had an enjoyable trip to the lake, we all were able to tolerate Fishluvr's company for the drive up (amazingly even his wife was able to tolerate him!!) [cool].[/#505000]

[#505000]Arriving at the lake it was shock and awe to see how high the water was. The shock and awe were soon replaced by weeping, wailing and the knashing of teeth as we began to scout out a suitable fishing location. [/#505000]

[#505000]We drove along the east edge and saw a lot of great bass fishing areas. Too bad there aren't any bass in Scofield. Most all of the eastern shoreline was choked with willows and other dense cover which has grown fast and strong during the lean water years. Not finding an open area big enough for five of us to fish (no there are no polygamists in our group, Fishluvr also brought his sister-in-law) we moved on. [/#505000]

[#505000]We drove throught the thriving metropolis of Scofield and saw all six residents celebrating Valley Days. On the west side of the lake things weren't looking much better but we finally found a "suitable" spot. We unloaded all our gear, set up and began to fish. There were tons and tons of minnows frolicking along the shoreline so Fishluvr and I broke out our trusty casting nets. The area we were in was shallow and mossy. The minnowing was great, after about 15 casts I was able to gather about 5 minnows and 20 pounds of mossy gunk. With the water so clear and shallow, the wee bastards would scatter just before the net would break the surface. 2 hours and 5 minnows later this choice fishing spot brought several choice four letter words to our lips. We packed up and moved back to the east side scouting a new location.[/#505000]

[#505000]Finally we decided to fish near the damn. The minnows here were much more cooperative and after a few minutes the wife was "fish on". After that we stayed until around 9:30 and caught probably 16 fish among the group. Not the strongest fishing trip I've ever had, but not a bad ending to a horrible start.[/#505000]

[#505000]I caught a nice 18-19" inch cut, and Fishluvrs wife caught a nice 18-19" inch rainbow that was nice and girthy.[/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]All in all I can say the new and improved (BFT patch added) lucky fishing hat was ON!!!![/#505000] [cool]

The big cut is mine mine mine!!!!! A nice addition to the dinner table!
