Well the quest to catch my first muskie is over, Saturday morning I hit pine view over by middle inlet around 7:00am. Got rigged up and launched the toon. We all know how it is trying to wake up (hadn't had any coffee) so I threw the small brown rapala out with 4 pound leader (after all I was fishing for smallies) realed it in said my hellos to some guys in a canoe casted out again and I swear with in two seconds of the rapala hitting the water I had the hit of my life, It fought me for what seemed like a eternity (okay maybe 8 to 10 minutes) I finally got it to the toon and for those of you familiar with toons you know you generally bring the fish up between your legs. Well seeing that mouth full of teeth up in that area was all I needed to wake up. I was totally pleased when he thrashed and cut through the leader. I lost a rapala but I still have everythig else.
(by the was I would guess he was about 36-38 inches)
yes I am talking about the fish Smile

I usually land the muskies on the side of the pontoon. I fashioned my own design of a muskie landing platform that is made out of plastic sheeting put together with nuts n bolts. Slides right up under one of my tackle compartments and I hold it on with 2 bungee cords.

Congrats! Three feet of muskie on 4lb test? You sure it wasn't 18-20 minutes of fight?
