Just got back from Kolob... didn't fish at all because I brought the two little ones and just wanted them to get used to the outdoors. I did have an awesome time however.
I did find out something new and thought I'd share it with you guys. It seems multi-colored(red and yellow I saw) earplugs cut in half and semi rounded with a pair of scissors, then glued to a treble hook works as well or better than actual powerbait. And it's totally legal as the earplugs are artificial not bait. The two guys using this method easily doubled the amount of fish any other anglers caught. Also, every fish I saw caught had the treble in it's lip, not completely swallowed like you get with powerbait. You fish the rig exactly like powerbait. The earplugs float well, but after a bit(20 - 30 minutes) they get soggy so have two or three ready so you can change occaissionally to a dry one.
I just figured I'd pass along some neat info for the guys who like fishing with powerbait, but avoid Kolob because of the special regulations.
